Emily Blunt is replacing Emma Watson, Jude Law is taking over for Michael Fassbender, and the movie industry appears to be one big game of musical chairs this week. They're not the only ones scoring deals; another X-Men alum has confirmed a return, and a primetime beauty is poised to turn up the Heat. Meanwhile, Drew Barrymore is set to re-team with her 50 First Dates co-star, Adam Sandler. Find out about all the latest big Hollywood deals.
Bobby pins have long been the tools we use to expertly, and stealthily, keep our hair up. But lately they've been starring in the hair accessory game as accent pieces. Celebrities like Emily Blunt, Katharine McPhee and Chloë Moretz have been spotted using the hair classic more for their form than function. Emily pushed a single pin into her vintage coif at the Critics' Choice Awards, while Katharine and Chloë stacked a trio of pins each.
Stick to side-swept styles to make sure your hair doesn't look like you forgot to pull out your pin. All three women's bobbies were actually serving a purpose, too, and a wayward pin almost always looks like a mistake. As for colours, let the style dictate which ones you choose. Similar hues to your hair colour look classic, like Emily's pinned-back style. For a punchier take on things, try Katharine McPhee's colourful trio. Either way, you'll have a hair accessory that wins in both utility and chicness. And what's better than that?
Emily Blunt and Helena Bonham Carter continued their awards season fun at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards held at the MayFair Hotel last night. Emily was nominated for British actress of the year but lost to Andrea Riseborough, who was recognised for her work in Shadow Dancer. Helena was this year's recipient of the Dilys Powell Award for excellence in film, which honoured her career filled with a variety of interesting characters. Helena's Les Misérables onscreen daughter, Samantha Barks, was also on hand for the event, but she lost the young British performer of the year award to The Impossible's Tom Holland. The big winner of the night was French film Amour, which picked up film and screenplay of the year for writer/director Michael Haneke, as well as actress of the year for Emmanuelle Riva.
When it comes to pulling out all the stops for an event, no one does it better than Jessica Alba. Frocking up for the Golden Globes, Jess knocked it outta the park in a peachy Oscar de la Renta gown, paired with the most amazing Harry Winston diamond necklace. It was Hollywood glam at its very best. Upping the sex appeal a few notches, Miranda Kerr hit the after-parties with a divine, berry-hued, split-to-the-thigh Zuhair Murad gown, while Emily Blunt took an edgier road in a slightly-muted gold Michael Kors number. But it wasn't all glam red carpet outfits — supermodel Candice Swanepoel rocked out in an Iron Maiden tee and Lucy Hale showcased perfect jetsetter style. The Golden Globe Awards turned out many fabulous trends, but none were as sexy as these jaw-dropping details: thigh-high slits, side cutouts, open backs, plunging necklines, sheer fabrics, and form-fitting silhouettes. Eva Longoria gave Angelina Jolie some major competition in the slit department, Taylor Swift proved that an open back can be just as hot as a plunging neckline, and Jennifer Lopez's body-clinging Zuhair Murad gave us the sultriest take on sheer. But they're not the only ladies who brought sexy back yesterday — step inside to see who else delivered some serious skin and what they wore at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
