Did you know that the human scalp has, on average, 100,000 hairs? So it's no surprise that just like ingrown hairs on the skin, hair follicles on the scalp can become blocked. Regular scalp massage will help unblock and promote new hair growth, but there's also a small portion of your hair that is in a "resting phase" and guess what? It's time to wake it up! For some time now, we've been schooled in using serums and conditioners to treat split ends and dry, unruly strands but now, it's your scalp's time to shine. As a few new scalp treatments begin to hit shelves, we've got the low down on what to buy and why. Are you ready to take the focus off your ends and nourish those roots? Thought so.

2013 Fall NYFW: Gilded Eyes and Graphic Hair Backstage at Thakoon
Thakoon's Fall 2013 presentation included makeup and hair that made a statement — and was hard to miss. Makeup artist Diane Kendal took inspiration from the collection, which was inspired by Summer. "We wanted to reflect that in the makeup, so we did a very dark midnight blue shadow, but to get that Summer feel we added glitter on top. It created the perfect juxtaposition between Winter and Summer." As far as the hair goes, think sharp, graphic, and modern: bangs placed on half of the forehead and cut short, creating a youthful, girlish style with an edge.
