Stephanie Rice has won The Celebrity Apprentice 2013. In a top four that was dominated by professional sportspeople — boxer Jeff Fenech, sprinter John Steffensen, swimmer Stephanie and PR boss Roxy Jacenko — Stephanie came out on top, winning $100,000 (or $60,000 after she donated some of the prize money to other contestants’ charities) for her chosen charity The Heart Foundation.
The last episode saw the top four return to young people’s home Don Bosco House, where they each worked with a representative from Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off the Streets. They were also asked to leave a lasting legacy in that person’s life for their final task.
Back in the boardroom, Mark Bouris, with his advisors Deborah Thomas and Dane Bouris, went through each contestant’s strengths and weaknesses not just in the last challenge, but throughout the whole series. Jeff was the first one fired after Mr. Bouris highlighted how Jeff was always one to let others shine, and that he wouldn’t mind giving the spotlight to the remaining three. Next to be fired was Roxy, who Mr. Bouris credited with bringing in lots of money for charity and having a successful work/business method, but he added that out of all the contestants she didn’t grow or develop as much as the others because she didn’t need to.
And then there were two. When Mr. Bouris announced Stephanie as the winner of the 2013 series, she couldn’t contain her happy tears, and once again demonstrated her generosity when she asked if she could donate $10,000 to each of the charities represented by celebrities who didn’t get the chance to raise money. She has also said winning the show has given her confidence to put her swimming career on hold and pursue her own business ventures, which include her new company for kids’ swimwear.
Congrats to Stephanie, and to all the celebrities who raised a total of $862,941 for their chosen charities.
