The Christian Dior Spring 2011 beauty look was a melting pot of trends, both past and present. Bettie Page bangs were teamed with bold green, blue and pink eye hues and finished with a statement coral-red lip. It was a team effort by hairstylist Orlando Pita and makeup artist Pat McGrath to make John Galliano's "technicolor" dream come alive. It's definitely one of the more statement looks that Paris has seen so far, but then that's no surprise given who's at the helm of Dior. And while clip on bangs aren't for me, I'll definitely be road-testing the mandarin nails.
Psst. Check out John Galliano's fishtail braid. Interesting. That's a lot of bobby pin action . . .
I spy with my little eye Rihanna filming her new music video in NYC. The singer isn't exactly known for her, ahem, conventional approach to beauty — she's worn bowl cuts, skunk-esque hair streaks and red buzz cuts this year — and music videos are the perfect place to play dress-up so she could've pushed the boundaries a lil' further but then red fairy floss curls, a co-ordinating fascinator and yellow-orange nails aren't necessarily considered tame by most people, right? I love me her nail shade, though I'm more of a squoval girl myself than almond-shape. Try butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Jaffa ($19.95) for a similar fluro orange. What do you think of RiRi's latest look? Excited for the new release much?
Woah. That's some full-on sun-kissed action happening there. Lucia Pieroni, working for MAC, was responsible for the burnt-orange hue that covered eyes, lips and cheeks at Moschino. The aim of the game was for the models to look like they were walking through the desert. It's Sex and the City 2 but upping the terracotta ante. Even the nails got a coating of bright orange. I'm not sure most would be brave enough to pull off the whole look, but a wash of orange on the lips and cheeks is definitely a pretty look for Summer. Of course I adore what's happening with the hair. LOVE the messy top knot that Eugene Souleiman created using Wella products. And imma have to get me one of those Moschino polka-dot scarves and tie it in a similar knotted headscarf to complete the look. Totally winning poolside look, no? What say you? You like?
